Trolley parties are all the rage here. I've never been on one, but I would like to try it out and see what it's all about. I have witnessed trollies in action and it looks like they are having fun. But, that leads to an important question. Are trollies the only way to go?
I know I haven't had the experience yet, but I would like to propose a more cost efficient alternative. A Metra weekender pass only costs $5 for unlimited rides. So, why not ride a real train and drink? It would be great! Everyone can bring some beer or a bottle of booze. Maybe even bring some munchies. We could even bar hop from burb to burb with our extreme unlimited passes. The Metra should promote this as a trolley alternative. I think they could gain a lot of weekend business. All in all you're talking maybe $40 a person, drinks included. On a trolley you'd spend $40+ drinks which good approach the $100/person mark. A total savings of $60 per person, not to mention the fun bonuses and random friends you will make on the train.
Who wants to come to my Metra party?
